Corporate & Legal Standing

We operate with full legal transparency and accountability as a licensed Foreign Investment Company (PT PMA) under the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, registered with the government’s Online Single Submission system under our official Business Identification Number (NIB). This formal structure provides our international clients with a level of security and direct ownership not possible through complex and often unreliable local nominee arrangements.

• Licensed Foreign Investment Company (PMA): Bali Yacht Builder is a legally registered PT PMA (Perseroan Terbatas Penanaman Modal Asing). This status is granted only after rigorous vetting by the Indonesian Ministry of Investment (formerly BKPM), signifying a stable, long-term commitment to Indonesian law.
• Business Identification Number (NIB): We hold a valid NIB (Nomor Induk Berusaha), which serves as our master identity number for all business licensing purposes, streamlining all interactions with government agencies.
• Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP): We are a registered taxpayer (Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak) and are fully compliant with all Indonesian tax regulations, ensuring no future liabilities can encumber the vessel’s title.

Construction & Classification Standards

Every yacht we build is engineered to meet stringent national standards from Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) for structural integrity and safety. For our phinisi hulls, we use Grade 1 ironwood (ulin) which has a density of up to 1.1 tons per cubic meter, ensuring exceptional durability.

• Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI): Our standard building protocol is to BKI class, Indonesia’s national classification society and a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). This rigorous process involves BKI surveyors approving all engineering plans and conducting multiple physical inspections at key construction stages, including ultrasonic testing of hull plate welds, engine mounting verification, and mandatory inclining tests to confirm stability calculations before final sea trials.
• International Classification: Upon client request, we can build to any other IACS member standard, including Lloyd’s Register (LR), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), or RINA, accommodating any international flagging or financing requirements.
• ISO 9001:2015 Compliance: Our shipyard’s quality management system is designed and implemented in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 principles, ensuring consistent quality, traceability, and continuous improvement in all our processes.

Material Sourcing & Traceability

For our traditional phinisi hulls, we exclusively use Grade 1 ironwood (ulin) and teak sourced legally from government-managed forests in Kalimantan and Sulawesi. With a density of up to 1.1 tons per cubic meter and natural resistance to marine borers, ulin provides unparalleled durability. We provide full chain-of-custody documentation (Surat Keterangan Sahnya Hasil Hutan or SKSHH), guaranteeing the timber is sustainably and legally harvested, a critical compliance point for environmentally conscious investors.

Vessel Registration & Operational Licensing

We provide a turnkey service for vessel certification, managing the entire 4-to-6-month bureaucratic process with the Directorate General of Sea Transportation. This includes securing the essential Gross Akte (Certificate of Nationality), ensuring your yacht is ready for commercial or private use upon delivery.

• Certificate of Tonnage (Surat Ukur): We facilitate the official measurement and certification of the vessel’s tonnage by the harbormaster (Syahbandar).
• Certificate of Ownership (Grosse Akta): We manage the legal registration process to secure the Grosse Akta, the vessel’s official title deed.
• Commercial Charter License (SIUPAL): For clients intending to charter their vessel, we manage the application for the Surat Izin Usaha Perusahaan Angkutan Laut (SIUPAL), the essential license for commercial marine transport operations.
• Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Compliance: We equip our vessels with safety equipment—from SOLAS-A life rafts with 125% capacity to 406 MHz EPIRBs registered directly with Indonesia’s search-and-rescue agency (BASARNAS)—that meets or exceeds all requirements for a vessel of its class.

Crew & Labor Compliance

A safe vessel requires a professional and well-cared-for crew. We extend our compliance framework to our human resources, ensuring every crew member holds up-to-date STCW 2010 certification and is enrolled in Indonesia’s mandatory BPJS Ketenagakerjaan social security and health program.

• BPJS Employment & Health Insurance: All our shipyard employees and any crew we help recruit are registered for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (social security, pension, and work accident insurance) and BPJS Kesehatan (universal health coverage), as mandated by Indonesian law.
• Seafarer Certification: We ensure that all crew operating our vessels hold the necessary and valid maritime qualifications (e.g., Ahli Nautika Tingkat / ANT, Ahli Teknika Tingkat / ATT). This includes crucial ancillary certificates like Advanced Fire Fighting and Medical First Aid, which are vital for operating safely in remote archipelagos like Raja Ampat, often a full day’s sail from the nearest medical facility.

Onboard Safety Management Systems (SMS)

Beyond physical equipment, we build a culture of safety into the vessel’s operations. We develop a comprehensive, 150+ page Safety Management System (SMS) for each yacht, compliant with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code. This includes detailed procedures and mandatory monthly drills for:

• Emergency drills (fire, man overboard, abandon ship)
• Vessel maintenance schedules
• Passage planning and navigation procedures, including detailed analysis for challenging crossings like the Sape Strait, where tidal currents can exceed 8 knots.
• Incident reporting and investigation
