A designed and delivered yacht at anchor

Decisions are cheap on paper

Concept board, general arrangement, 3D model, specification. Only then does a shipyard contract exist.

The studio process is deliberately front loaded

Every week spent here is bought back at the yard, where changes cost ten times more.

Owners who arrive with a magazine photo get useful questions. Owners who arrive with an itinerary get a design.

Bring three things, none of them drawings: where you will sail, who will be aboard, and the honest budget band you can commit. Platform, length, material and layout are derived, and deriving them is our job.

Three paths

Who the studio designs for

Each path ends in the same place: a specification both sides can hold each other to.

A yacht built for an international owner

The international owner

Building remotely

Studio sessions by video, decisions logged in writing, yard visits at key stages.

A yacht built for a Bali based owner

The Bali expatriate

Living alongside it

Studio afternoons in Denpasar, weekend drives to Benoa, designed around crossings you know.

A charter vessel in service

The charter operator

Starting from a rate card

Designed backwards from revenue, reviewed against licensing before contract.

From concept board to shipyard contract

Four moves, in this order, every time.

  1. Concept board

Itinerary, guest count and budget translated into first sketches.

  2. Arrangement

Cabins, crew spaces and machinery fixed on a general arrangement.

  3. 3D model

Interiors walked and revised before anything is ordered.

  4. Specification

Precise enough to price honestly and to contract against.

  5. Contract

Only now does a shipyard contract exist, with the bands attached.

The design phase ends with a document set precise enough that competing quotes on it would be comparable line by line.

Before your first session

Begin at the studio

The studio takes a limited number of new projects each season so supervision quality holds. Bring an itinerary rather than a photograph.
